Wow, where do I start? Luna Showband and Night Magic took our breath away...
Wow, where do I start? Luna Showband and Night Magic took our breath away. The most compliments I ever had on the wedding were the band and the singers. People just stared, as they couldn’t believe it. My mother-in-law who is from Canada said, we just don’t get talent like this in Canada! She was so happy. It was just phenomenal. The kids from Arizona who are spoilt and have seen every kind of wedding said it was the best music they have ever seen. It was truly out of this world!! I can’t believe you mastered the bee gees voice and did Night Fever, it was amazing!! When you called us to the stage to stand up there with you, we felt like legends and part of the band!! I will never forget it!! So epic!! Every time I remember those times on the dance floor, we beam with happiness!
We have had so many compliments on how good the band was...
We booked Mashup Kings for our wedding at Kingscote Barn and we are so glad we did! We spent ages looking through different bands online to find something more in line with our music tastes and we're so glad we found these guys. We have had so many compliments on how good the band was and we both absolutely loved it too. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone thinking about booking them for their wedding - it will really make the evening. Thanks Benji & team 🙌
If you are considering booking them for your wedding - go for it!
We booked the band to play at our wedding and they did not disappoint! The whole wedding party were up dancing, they gave the evening reception such a great vibe. So many of our guests commented on how great they sounded! Robyn especially has a stunning voice and the way she plays the saxophone is simply amazing! If you are considering booking them for your wedding - go for it! You will not be disappointed! Many thanks, Emily.
They were amazing and had the party going from the first song!
Hi Joe, Please do pass on my thanks to the band last night. They were amazing and had the party going from the first song! Thanks for all of your help in arranging. I’ll definitely be recommending them and will have them in mind for any future events we do. Best regards, Lucy.
Wedding bands in Devon are able to travel to venues across Devon and throughout South West England.
They may need to charge a small amount for travel, but this will be included in the quote they provide to you. Most wedding bands travel by car so please make sure there is parking as close as possible to your wedding venue.
To secure the perfect band for your wedding, we recommend booking as early as possible. Many of our top wedding bands are booked up to two years in advance, especially for popular dates. If you’re planning a Saturday wedding in May, June, July, August, or September, aim to book your band at least a year ahead of time. These summer Saturdays are the most sought-after, and our bands receive the highest number of enquiries for these dates. That said, weddings are increasingly happening on Sundays and mid-week (particularly Thursdays and Fridays), so don’t delay in securing your band.
Usually it’s not possible to see bands performing live. Most professional bands in Devon perform at private events only, such as weddings and corporate events. It’s not usually possible for the bands to allow potential clients into these venues to watch them perform. It is occasionally possible so there’s no harm in asking. And sometimes wedding bands will do the odd gig at a pub or festival that’s open to the public.
Our wedding bands in Devon perform a huge range of styles: from pop and rock, soul & Motown, to indie rock and modern R&B, as well as everything in between. Wedding bands normally perform a standard set list at weddings each year, but some of them are happy to mix it up and throw in a few special requests if you ask. If you can't find what you're looking for, submit an enquiry and bands will get in touch with you and tell you what they can offer.
We've been supplying bands for weddings in Devon for over 10 years, which means we're well placed to suggest the most popular and in-demand bands in the area. You can read our hundreds of 5* reviews that we and our bands have received over the years. When you book with FixTheMusic, you know you'll be hiring a first-class band, backed up by world-class customer support throughout.
Most wedding bands, including the Devon wedding bands we work with, typically play 2 x 45-minute or 2 x 1-hour live sets at weddings. Some bands may offer longer performances, but this is usually outlined in their quote.
Most bands provide a “laptop DJ” service. This isn’t the same as providing the service of a professional DJ who reads the room and adapts to the feel on the night. Instead, they’ll play a pre-prepared playlist (often on Spotify or iTunes) through their PA system. It’s worth checking this with your band, as some prefer to focus solely on live music and leave the rest of the evening’s entertainment to you or a professional DJ.
Typically, you can provide the band with a list of song requests ahead of the wedding, and they’ll download the tracks onto their laptop or device to play during the event. Another option is to create your own playlist and bring a device to connect to the band’s PA system. However, it’s always a good idea to confirm this with the band beforehand, as some may prefer not to have external devices connected to their equipment.
Most wedding bands in Devon have a well-practiced selection of songs they regularly perform at weddings. These are tried-and-true crowd-pleasers, carefully chosen to appeal to guests of all ages and keep the dance floor packed. The setlist often evolves over time, with the band updating it by adding new tracks and retiring others to keep things fresh and engaging.
Absolutely! Most bands are more than happy to learn and perform your first dance song live on your special day. If the song doesn’t quite suit the band’s style, they may recommend playing the original recording through their PA system instead, ensuring your moment is just as magical. Some bands may charge a little extra to learn your first dance song if it isn't already part of their repertoire.
Most bands are happy to learn one additional song for your wedding that isn’t already part of their repertoire. Some may even offer to learn 2 or 3 new songs, but it’s uncommon for them to take on more than that. Learning and rehearsing new material can be incredibly time-consuming for the band, particularly for vocalists who need to memorise lyrics. While they’ll do their best to accommodate your requests, it’s important to keep expectations realistic.
Absolutely! Most bands are more than happy for you to let them know which songs from their setlist you’d prefer not to hear, as well as which ones you’d love for them to play on the night. They’ll typically use your preferences as a guide to tailor their setlist, ensuring it aligns with your tastes and keeps the party exactly how you envision it.
Most bands typically aim to arrive at your wedding venue around 5pm to ensure they’re set up and ready to perform by 7pm. During this time, they’ll unpack and set up their equipment, as well as conduct a sound check. This is crucial to ensure the volume is suitable for your venue and to account for any sound or noise restrictions that may be in place.
Yes, most bands are happy to arrive earlier than 5pm, though you should expect to pay for the additional time. Many couples are concerned about the band setting up while guests are present, but experienced wedding bands are skilled at setting up discreetly, minimising noise and mess. The loudest part of the process is the sound check, which typically lasts around 15 to 30 minutes. Rest assured, a professional band will handle everything smoothly and efficiently.
Most bands typically wrap up by midnight, which aligns with the requirements of many Devon wedding venues that require live music to end by this time.
In most cases, yes, the band can continue playing after midnight. However, they typically charge an additional fee for the extended performance, so it’s important to discuss and arrange this with the band ahead of time to ensure everything runs smoothly on the day. Asking on the night if the band can stay later is best avoided.
Typically, yes, but this will usually come with an additional fee. This is because at least one band member will need to stay until the end of the event to pack up the PA system before heading home. For some band members, who may live a couple of hours away from your venue, finishing at 1am could mean they don’t get home until 3am or 4am. It’s always best to discuss this with the band in advance to make arrangements.
Yes, professional wedding bands typically bring their own equipment, including a PA system, mixing desk, basic dance floor lighting, and their instruments. However, if you’re hosting a particularly large wedding with hundreds of guests, you might want to consider hiring a larger PA system and additional lighting to suit the scale of the event.
Not necessarily. Most bands are perfectly happy to perform without a stage, though having one can add a special touch to the performance.
The amount of space required depends on the size of the band. As a general guideline, a 4-piece band typically needs at least 5m x 4m of space. This allows enough room for the band members, their instruments (keyboards and drum kits can take up quite a bit of space), as well as equipment like speakers and a mixing desk.
If you arrange it with the band ahead of time, most are happy to let you or a guest join in for a song or two. However, we always recommend confirming this with your band in advance to ensure everything runs smoothly on the day.
Most bands will provide pre-recorded playlists to fill the gaps between and after their live sets, ensuring music plays throughout the evening. However, if you’re looking for a professional DJ who can adapt their music choices on the spot and engage with your guests, then hiring a DJ as well might be the better option.
Yes, bands and DJs often share the same PA system to avoid cluttering the dance floor with multiple sets of speakers. However, it’s important to discuss this with both the DJ and the band beforehand to ensure the equipment meets everyone’s needs and that they’re comfortable sharing. One potential issue arises if the DJ is booked to play into the early hours while the band finishes earlier, such as at 11pm. In this case, it may make more sense for the band to use the DJ’s equipment, saving the band from having to wait until the DJ’s set is over.
Professional wedding bands typically bring all their own technical equipment and instruments. However, most will expect to be provided with a hot meal and soft drinks. Since the musicians often leave their homes around lunchtime to arrive at your venue in time to set up and soundcheck, it can be a long day for them. A good meal and refreshments before their performance will help ensure they’re energized and ready to give their best on stage.
The band won’t expect the same meal as your guests; many wedding venues offer supplier meal options that you can purchase in advance, or you can give the band access to your buffet if you’re having one.
Not always. While most professional bands have a core group of musicians who perform at the majority of their weddings, they also rely on a network of deputies (often referred to as “deps” in the industry) to step in when needed. This is a standard and essential practice, as many musicians work as freelancers and may have commitments with other bands, tours, or projects. Having deputies ensures the band can still perform even if a core member is unavailable or unwell, maintaining the quality of your event.
You can usually get a good sense of the band’s attire from their online videos. Most bands go for a smart-casual look, such as dress shirts, but if you have a specific theme or dress code in mind, be sure to let them know well in advance. For instance, if you’re planning an Ibiza-themed wedding, you might want to check if the band can dress to match the vibe!
Yes, most bands will arrive by car as it’s the most convenient way to transport their equipment and instruments. Providing 1 or 2 parking spaces close to the venue will be greatly appreciated. In local cities like Plymouth and Exeter, you may also need to cover the cost of parking.
If you’re getting married in Devon, making the most of the summer months by hosting parts of your wedding outside is a great idea. However, the weather can be unpredictable, so while many bands are happy to play outside, they’ll always need access to shelter in case of rain or strong sunlight. Musical instruments and sound equipment can be worth thousands of pounds, and even a small amount of water damage or sun exposure can cause significant harm.
The rural county of Devon, which boasts stunning cliffs and sandy shores, secluded bays, seaside resorts, fishing towns, and ports, hosted 29,445 weddings and civil ceremonies last year.
It has an incredible selection of beautiful wedding venues, especially the many historic country houses and hotels throughout the county and on the coast.
