More information about Crescent City Jazz Band

Equally at home wowing rapturous crowds at London venues like The Ditch, The Nightjar and Wilton’s Music Hall or adding stylishly toe-tapping vintage sounds to a wedding celebration or prohibition-era spirit to a Great Gatsby party, we also appear in the short movie Melvin (2015), shot at the famous Pinewood Studios.

As one recent client put it, we are “A big genius slice of New Orleans served up to lucky Londoners without the airfare!”

Members of our band have played with Madness, Jimmy Somerville, Death in Vegas, The Glenn Miller Orchestra, Ken Colyer, Mike Daniels, Martine McCutcheon, Paul Weller, The Divine Comedy, DJ Yoda and Kym Mazelle.

FAQs

How much does the band cost?

The fee depends on the location and timings of your event and whether or not we will need amplification. Please contact us for an accurate quote.

What geographical area do you play in?

The band is based in London, but performs all over the UK and occasionally overseas.

How long do you play for?

We usually play 2 x 60-minute or 3 x 40-minute sets, but can be flexible to your requirements.

How much space do you need?

We usually play acoustically so can fit into tight corners and can be mobile. If a large number of people need to hear us, we may need to amplify vocals, in which case we will need more space.

What equipment does the band have?

As we usually play acoustically, we just need our instruments. On the odd occasion where we need amplification equipment, the price of hiring this will be included in the quote we give you.

Can you play recorded music during your breaks?

We can only do this when we are using amplification. We can provide appropriate playlists for you to play through your own equipment.

Can you play outside?

Yes, we play many outdoor events (weather allowing!) and can be mobile.

"We booked Crescent City Jazz Band for a 50th birthday party and they went down a storm, even people who thought they did not like jazz were blown away. This is a band that is full of character playing the best jazz standards with infectious energy and brilliant musicianship. No matter what your age they interpret a jazz era full of such joy and pathos that it makes you glad to be alive. I don’t think Crescent City Jazz Band can have ever played a gig where the audience has not ended up romping along to their arrangements. Timeless music performed by brilliant musicians. A big genius slice of New Orleans served up to lucky Londoners without the airfare."

"These guys played at my daughter's wedding and wowed us all through the evening. They gave it their all and many of the guests mentioned how much fun they had; it really added to a wonderful party. Even the hotel asked for contact info and I assume that wasn't just because Crescent City Jazz Band had blown the roof off."

"Crescent City Jazz Band gave us a truly memorable day. They serenaded us for our first dance and upped the tempo for a fantastic climax to the evening. Not only was the music great, but they are visually stunning: that must be the most polished sousaphone in the UK - our photographs look fantastic."
