About Harriet Adie
With over 15 years' experience, award-winning harpist Harriet has played for royalty, film stars, and top orchestras like the Philharmonia, as well as at weddings, parties and corporate events.
As a soloist she has given many recitals at major London venues including St Martin’s-in-the-Fields, The National Gallery and St James’s Palace.
In addition to live broadcasts for BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio 4, Harriet has appeared at the Swaledale Festival and has performed concertos with orchestras including the Dart Festival Orchestra and the Ten Tors Orchestra.
As part of her award from the Martin Musical Fund, she toured with the Unicorn Theatre Project / Philharmonia Orchestra for their production of the opera Clockwork, culminating in performances at the Linbury Studio Theatre, Covent Garden.
Harriet has worked regularly with many orchestras including the Philharmonia Orchestra (where she also performed in their Music Of Today series), the Orchestra of the Swan and the Northern Sinfonia.
Harriet’s harp has taken her to diverse locations and star-studded events including a performance in front of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II as part of the celebrations for her Diamond Jubilee, an appearance at the BRIT Awards and a live duet on TV with Dermot O'Leary for Channel 4's Celebrity Big Brother.
A versatile performer, not only has she has dressed up as an angel to appear at London’s Fabric Night Club , but she has also recorded at the world famous Abbey Road Studios and performed for BBC 1's Songs of Praise and for Channel 5’s The Hotel Inspector.
For several years she performed regular recitals on cruise ships including Cunard’s legendary QE2, and also Fred Olsen and P & O cruises. Harriet has provided background music for corporate events at exclusive venues, such as Cutty Sark in Greenwich, as well as at weddings and events in all the major London hotels including Claridges, The Ritz, the Savoy, and the Dorchester Hotel.
Harriet will tailor her music to suit each individual event and clients' tastes. Her repertoire is enormously varied and she is happy to take requests with advance warning, and where possible, on the day.
She is as equally happy performing light classical, folk or jazz tunes, as she is pop and Bollywood and South American music.
If you would like help choosing music, she is able to provide a comprehensive selection of pieces which work well for the different parts of the day. The right sounds can inspire and complement a magical event, and Harriet will ensure that the music for your day is unique and a lasting memory.
Harriet performs mainly on her full-size concert grand harp but can also provide a smaller clarsach (folk harp) harp (useful when space is at a premium), and for a more contemporary feel, even a pearlescent white electric harp!
Harriet is available as a harpist in London and the South East, including the counties of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent, Surrey and Sussex, but will also consider events further afield depending on the date and location.
Here are just some of the locations where I have been booked by clients on FixTheMusic for weddings and events...
"Your playing was simply magnificent and transported us to other worlds and far surpassed our expectations."
"I am so sorry that I did not get to see you and thank you for playing so beautifully at our wedding. Both Lourdes and myself have been so blessed with meeting so many lovely people while arranging our wedding and making it a perfect and memorable day. Thank you once again and I would be happy to recommend you to anyone who is looking for a harpist to play at their wedding."
"Just wanted to drop you a quick note to say thank you very much for the fantastic performance you gave at our wedding drinks reception. It really added to the occasion and lots of guests commented on how much they enjoyed hearing you play. I know that my wife particularly enjoyed hearing the Cavatina as well!"
"Sarah and I wanted to contact you and offer our belated but sincere thanks for the amazing job you did for us on our wedding day at the Ashmolean. We and our guests were blown away by the setting and the atmosphere created by your wonderful playing during our ceremony. It was so exactly what we wanted and simply sublime in its execution, thank you so very much. We were whisked away with our guests after the ceremony and apologise for not having the time to speak with you before you left the building. Stairway to heaven was just perfect for us and, if you ever play it again, we would love a recording of you playing if you ever have the time to do so."
