About The Glasgow Ceilidh Band – professional ceilidh band based in Glasgow, Scotland

The Glasgow Ceilidh Band are a truly electric four-piece ceilidh band with fiddle, bass, electric guitar and drums (electric too), adding an exciting, modern twist to traditional Ceilidh music.

You will always have fun at a ceilidh, whether you are a learner, a regular ceilidh dancer, or you’re watching from the sidelines laughing at the capers of the participants.

Ceilidhs are very social affairs even if you or your partner has two left feet!

We're regularly booked to perform for weddings and events at Melville Castle Hotel in Edinburgh, Manderston House in Berwickshire and House for an Art Lover in Glasgow, Scotland.

More information about The Glasgow Ceilidh Band

Our repertoire is as long as Nessie’s tale and don’t worry if you don’t know the dances as we will guide you with full instructions for each one.

View our list of the UK's best ceilidh bands ➡️

Our dances are quite easy and you’ll have so much fun, even wee old Auntie Maureen, or grumpy Sam from finance, might be persuaded to get up and have a go (in fact they might even dance together!).

We bring the house down in all venues – from castles to canvases, from hotels to huts – in fact any event or place that wants to enjoy an evening of merriment with exciting music.

A DJ is always included to play your favourite song for the first dance and later in the evening if required.

We like to put the ‘ding’ in ‘wedding’, and the ‘corr!’ in corporate’, so give us a call to make sure your evening will genuinely rock! (NB: Our music is much better than our puns!)

So if you're looking for the finest modern ceilidh band Scotland has to offer, make an enquiry and we'll be in touch with a quote!

We're based in Bathgate, West Lothian, but happy to travel all over Scotland, including Edinburgh, Glasgow and further afield.

"Wow...that's us back to earth with a bump! Has taken me until now to recover!! Well a big thank you to you and all the guys for a super night...we couldn't have asked for more. I absolutely loved it! I loved your music and am so pleased with how it all went...my only regret is we didn't hurry up eating and get a chance to dance more! I'm already thinking about how we can have another event soon to book your band...so many many thanks again. Best wishes."

"Dear Simon, Just a wee Thank You for providing the music at Ken's 60th birthday. The band was brilliant. We had great feedback and everyone really enjoyed themselves. You were great for beginners and experts alike - we had a couple of guests from Australia and NZ and it was great to show them some traditional hospitality. Thanks again, Laura."

"The band were incredible, all our guests were so impressed and the mash-up of traditional ceilidh music with rock was perfect; it took everyone by surprise but we all loved it. We were all really happy with our ceilidh and the DJ at the end was a great balance for the night. Huge thank you to Simon for organising, and to Gareth for taking care of the reception music for us. Definitely recommend for an event!"

"The Glasgow Ceilidh Band were amazing at my wedding. All my guests loved it even though most of them had never heard of ceilidh before let alone danced it. Mary was so helpful from the get go to the day of the wedding even though she unfortunately couldn’t be there. Overall, a great experience and highly recommend."

"The Glasgow Ceilidh Band played at our wedding on 1st October 2023, and we couldn’t be happier we booked them! We had a mixed bag of Scottish, English and Japanese guests, many who had never even heard of a ceilidh before, but they all got stuck right in thanks to the great music and Simon’s patience and instruction as the ceilidh caller. The rock element was an amazing touch and had all the guests talking! A good few of our English friends have said they’ll only be attending Scottish weddings from now on, so I don’t think you can get a more shining review than that!"

"The Glasgow Ceilidh Band were fantastic and I can not recommend them enough. We hired the full band for the evening of our wedding and they provided live music for the Ceilidh and the DJ afterwards. The majority of guests had never done a Ceilidh before and the caller was patient and excellent at explaining the steps. Their cross between light rock and traditional music was exactly what we wanted to make a memorable evening (which all our guests were talking about after the event). As well as being fantastic on the night they have also been great at quickly replying to emails and being prompt at providing required information; taking away stress from what is typically a stressful time. Thank Glasgow Ceilidh Band for your talent and performance."

"Hi Simon, Thanks again for your performance on Friday! Having talked to people over the past couple of days it is clear that everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening and thought your band were great and judged the level just right. I look forward to hearing you again and have already had a couple of people asking for your details."

"My wife and I booked The Glasgow Ceilidh Band for our wedding and were thrilled with what we got. I was really impressed with how tight the band are and Mary's playing and calling on fiddle was outstanding. They provide a fresh dynamic sound without the need for an accordionist. Great value for money, accommodating and put on a fantastic night. Not to be missed. Cheers, from Stuart & Ellen."

"If anyone is looking for a ceilidh band, I recommend The Glasgow Ceilidh Band. They are amazing! Half of my guests were Scottish and the other half were from Liverpool so I wanted a ceilidh sandwich (ceilidh, disco, ceilidh). I explained this to my band and they worked with me to find the perfect music for my evening. They were both professional and accommodating. My friends were singing and playing my first dance and they allowed them to use their equipment. The night went smoothly with the ceilidh band explaining the dances before they began. Everyone commented on how amazing the music was and how fun the ceilidh was. As a musician myself I was delighted at the high level of musicianship by all the musicians in the band. These guys know their stuff! I recommend them very highly. Thanks again guys for making my night so special, Adele and Stuart."

"I booked The Glasgow Ceilidh Band (2 piece option) to play at my mother-in-law's 90th birthday party recently. The contact between Mary and myself was excellent and she reassured me that everything would go according to plan on the night of the event. It certainly was, with the perfect mix of ceilidh and disco. The band were fantastic and encouraged our guests to join in the dances with their helpful instructions. Everyone commented on how great the band were and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a fantastic night of entertainment. Thanks again."
