More information about The Birmingham Ska Band

Highlights include live collaborations with Damon Albarn of Blur, Dave Wakeling, Ranking Roger and The Beat, performing at the Specials after-party, performing on the same bill as Madness at the house of fun weekender and supporting Reggae royalty Steel Pulse and Musical Youth.

The Birmingham Ska Band have also enjoyed headlining numerous festivals and corporate events across the UK and are highly experienced in playing weddings, functions and promoting their own shows.

The Birmingham Ska Band consistently perform with the same core of musicians however we reserve the right to make substitutions to the lineup as and when required.

We can assure you that in these circumstances the performance will still be spectacular and your evening will be a success.

Andy Hess, a long time aficionado of Ska, founded the Band in 2005. He was joined by Ted Davies (Vox and Guitar), Lorraine Stewart (Vox), Scotland B (Bass) and Roger Westwood (Kit).

Brian Wright, known as BeeDubya and later just Dubbs, joined Ted and Loz on Vocals. In 2009, they found a couple of itinerant brass players at a beer festival and welcomed Alun David (Trombone) and David Hipkiss (Trumpet).

In the summer of 2014 Lorraine left the band and was replaced by Sharodene Mellis on vocals along with the addition of Mark Overton on Saxophone.

Various eminent local characters can be seen from time to time guesting at The Birmingham Ska Band's notorious live shows.
