About Amethyst Strings – professional string group based in London
Amethyst Strings are a stylish female string duo, trio, quartet or quintet comprising violins and double bass.
Amethyst Strings are in great demand to perform at weddings, corporate events and private functions throughout the UK and internationally.
Elegant, sophisticated and versatile, we are available to perform on both acoustic and electric instruments.
We also have our own sound system and string specialist sound engineer enabling us to amplify our music to the desired level for any party or room size.
Trained at London’s finest music conservatories including the Royal Academy of Music, we fuse classical instruments with pop and jazz styles, performing music from a diverse and extensive bespoke repertoire ranging from Bach to the Black Eyed Peas.
We arrange all repertoire ourselves creating original versions of well-known music. This also means we can arrange any piece on request no matter how unusual!
We have a range of beautiful and elegant dresses that we can wear according to your preference. We can also bring atmospheric lighting to give added ambiance to the performance area.
The ladies of Blue Topaz have performed worldwide with artists including Adele, Beyonce, Simply Red, Lana Del Rey, Rod Stewart, Take That, Emelie Sande, Ne-Yo, Pavarotti and Nigel Kennedy and on TV shows including The Brit Awards, Graham Norton, Live from Abbey Road, Children In Need and Jonathan Ross.
Clients have included Her Majesty The Queen, The Jamie Oliver Foundation, Microsoft, the Football Association and The Duchess of Cambridge at venues such as the legendary jazz club Ronnie Scott’s, Wembley Stadium, The National Theatre, Kensington Palace and for some of London’s finest hotels including Claridge’s, The Dorchester, the Mandarin Oriental and The Grosvenor House.
We are happy to travel anywhere in the UK and abroad.
Blue Topaz have performed live music at numerous wedding ceremonies and receptions where they have gained the experience and flexibility to handle any event with professionalism and reliability, ensuring that your special day is enjoyable and stress-free.
With so many options for the modern-day wedding, Blue Topaz pride themselves on being able to perform live music to fit into any theme, style or atmosphere that you wish to create.
With a smart, chic and elegant appearance and our unique line-up of two violins and double bass, Blue Topaz are not only a refreshing and eye-catching alternative to the traditional string quartet but also provide the versatility of any musical style you may wish for.
The music choices for your ceremony can range from traditional timeless classics to more recent hits. Walk down the aisle to Pachelbel’s Canon and then surprise your guests by exiting the ceremony to Pharrell’s Happy!
Blue Topaz will then continue to entertain your guests during the reception with a mix of classical, jazz and popular styles as your day unfolds.
We arrange all of the music ourselves and welcome any special requests you might have, no matter how unusual!
So whether you have your heart set on a particular song, or whether you are just looking for some advice, Blue Topaz are happy to help and will be pleased to discuss the best options for your special day.
For an eye-catching alternative, we can also provide the stunning Blue Topaz female quintet (4 violins and double bass). This is perfect for larger weddings and a great way to wow your guests!
Amethyst Strings are available on beautiful acoustic instruments and impressive blue electric instruments if required.

"Just want to say how amazing Amethyst Strings are and can't recommend them enough for weddings! I had them perform during my wedding ceremony & drinks reception at my recent September wedding at Buxted Park Hotel and they were fabulous! The music they played was a mixture of classical & modern pieces and it just added to the fantastic wedding atmosphere. Everyone loved them, they were extremely professional & easy to communicate with and looked the glamorous part! Thank you so much & sorry I never got to say hello!!!!"

"I just wanted to say a public thank you for playing at our wedding on July 22nd. You were amazing and really helped to create the atmosphere we had hoped for. You were so responsive and helpful in the run up, you looked and sounded great on the day and I just loved walking in to you playing canon. Thanks so, so much. Liz and Paul xx"
– 16 August 2017, Elizabeth Oldfield, wedding in Birmingham
"Dear Anna, I am so grateful for all of the effort and commitment you and the rest of Blue Topaz put in to making the music for Dan and my wedding so special. Your performances on the day were beautiful (lots of guests commented excitedly on the contemporary songs you were playing at the cocktail reception!) and I am in love with your arrangement of our first dance song. I wasn’t sure whether to spend the money getting it recorded but I am so glad we did! Thank you for your commitment and focus from beginning to end on understanding what I wanted and bringing it to life. I’ve spent hours practising to this song, and the crescendos in the music still get me every time!"
