More information about African Affect

With African Affect, we bring together our musical dream of blending traditional Ghanaian music with sizzling Afrobeat grooves to life, topping it off with an irresistibly funky twist.

Their unique blend of vibrant African rhythms with fast, animated horn sections and heavy bass lines brings a whole new definition to the Afro-Funk genre.

African Affect has been invited to the BBC Radio Theatre to be a part of Global Beats program and to perform live at Outlook Inspirations 50’s Anniversary Awards.

They have performed at numerous festivals in the UK and Europe. In London they have headlined Africa On The Square Festival and London African Festival.

Other major festivals include Shambala, Secret Garden Party, Back2Black, Green Man Festival, Africa Utopia, Fieldview Festival, Kendal Calling and others.

The band released an EP in 2013 to huge critical acclaim, and have since been nominated in the World Music Network’s charts.

Ghanaian-born percussionist, vocalist and composer started his creative life as a dancer with the Bukom Ensemble of Ghana, known for their infectious folk-driven rhythms.

His elders soon recognised the musical potential of this youth and encouraged him with careful guidance and training. This provided the foundations upon which he has developed his career in music and dance.

Henceforth he came to London with Kakatsitsi Master Drummers of Ghana and has since thoroughly involved himself in the UK music scene. He graduated from the Guildhall Leadership Masters degree programme in 2012.

The African band is available for hire at weddings, parties and corporate events throughout the UK, Europe and the Middle East.

The group features African drummers and can also include African dancers combining to produce the ultimate in African entertainment available in the UK for weddings and events.

"Hi Vika, Firstly I wanted to say a huge thank you. The band were just spectacular. I have had so many people coming to me with compliments on such an amazing show. I’m only annoyed I didn’t get to see more. I was moving slowly around the place saying hundreds of thank yous to all of the guests. I’m hoping some of our guests took some pictures or videos they may be able to share with us. Really really amazing and please pass our thanks on to the whole band for being a part of what was a truly spectacular night. Best wishes, Harry."

"I cannot get across how amazing the band were when playing at my party! Their energy was incredible and we were dancing non stop. They are able to create a great connection with the audience which reflects in the special atmosphere that is created. I had so many messages from guests saying they couldn't believe how good the band were. Blew all my expectations and I wouldn't hesitate for a second in rebooking - they made the party!"
