With Oktoberfest becoming more and more popular in this country each year, we thought it was time to write a blog post about hiring a traditional Bavarian oompah band for German-themed events in the UK.
Oktoberfest in München (Munich), where the festival was founded in 1810, generally begins at the end of September and lasts until mid-October.
However, outside Germany, one will find Oktoberfest events taking place throughout the month.
It's a time of raucous celebration, of men in lederhosen, women in dirndls (a traditional feminine dress worn in Austria, South Tyrol and Bavaria), lager served in 1-litre "stein" mugs, bratwurst, sauerkraut, dancing, singing and general merriment...
This merriment is always choreographed by an oompah band, usually consisting of trombone, tuba, trumpet, accordion and drum kit – performing traditional Bavarian folk songs, polkas and waltzes.
If you're looking to hire an oompah band for your Oktoberfest party, submit an enquiry on FixTheMusic to receive offers from relevant local bands.
